We are a well-established, patient-focused dental practice in Halifax seeking a warm, organized and highly dependable Dental Administrator / Patient Care Coordinator to join our small team.
Our practice is focused on providing personalized, high-quality dental care in a friendly and professional environment. We are looking for someone who enjoys getting to know patients, takes pride in exceptional service, and is comfortable taking ownership of the administrative side of a dental practice while also assisting with clinical support responsibilities.
The position includes:
- Approximately 30 hours per week
- Patient scheduling and appointment coordination
- Answering telephone calls and communicating professionally with patients
- Managing patient accounts, payments and insurance submissions
- Preparing and following up on estimates and predeterminations
- Coordinating treatment appointments and helping patients understand their treatment plans
- Maintaining an organized and productive schedule
- General dental office administration and correspondence
- Working with Abeldent dental software
- Assisting with the preparation and entry of clear, accurate clinical notes
- Helping maintain appropriate infection prevention and control protocols including sterilization, operatory turnover, and maintaining a clean, organized and compliant clinical environment
Our ideal candidate:
- Has previous dental administrative/reception experience
- Has a good understanding of dental terminology and clinical procedures
- Is comfortable documenting clinical information accurately
- Has a good understanding of dental infection prevention and control (IPAC) procedures
- Holds current First Aid/CPR certification
- Has current WHMIS training/certification
- Is personable, professional and confident communicating with patients
- Has excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
- Is comfortable discussing treatment, fees and insurance with patients
- Is dependable and able to work independently
- Has strong computer skills
- Is proactive and able to anticipate what needs to be done
- Enjoys working in a smaller, patient-centred practice
Experience with ABELDent is an asset, but we are happy to train an excellent candidate who has experience with another dental practice-management system. Previous dental assisting experience is also considered an asset.
